Practical information and terms for renting bikes at Toftegården.
Book bikes in your e-butler
If you would like to rent bikes, book them directly in your personal e-butler with the “Book bikes” button. There you choose dates and number of bikes.
Bike rental is delivered by Fokalbiz (CVR/SE: 41788593). Price per day: DKK 100. Payment is made when you pick up the bike.
Bikes can be picked up after 09.00 and must be returned no later than 23.00. The key is at OFFICE and the bike is picked up in the “RENT A BIKE” area in the courtyard.
Practical information
Where do I pick up my bike?
You find the key to your bike in the key box at OFFICE under “RENT A BIKE”. The door code for OFFICE is 1414. The bike is picked up in the “RENT A BIKE” area in the courtyard.
Where do I park the bike if I have rented it for several days?
Always park the bike in the “RENT A BIKE” area in the courtyard. Always lock the bike when you park it at Toftegården or in town.
Where do I return the bike?
Return the bike in the “RENT A BIKE” area in the courtyard.
When must I return the bike?
The bike must be returned no later than 23.00. If you rent bikes for several days, return the bike no later than 23.00 on the last rental day. If you have different bikes on different days, the bike and key must be returned every day no later than 23.00.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes, maximum 130 kg.
Is a helmet included?
Bike helmets can be borrowed free of charge from the black box by the bike rental area. A helmet is not legally required in Denmark, but we strongly recommend using one. Toftegården is not responsible if a guest chooses to ride without a helmet.
How do I adjust the saddle height?
There is a quick-release screw under the saddle. Open it, adjust the saddle, and close it again.
How do I turn the lights on and off?
Each bike has a front light and a rear light. Both are switched on and off using the button on the light.
How and when do I pay?
You pay in cash, by MobilePay or by payment card when you pick up the bike.
Take good care of the bike
Do not ride on gravel roads, off-road terrain, through water or lakes, on the beach, or anywhere it is prohibited, illegal or disturbing to others. Always remember to lock the bike.

Rental terms

1. General
The guest and Fokalbiz are the parties to the agreement. The guest is responsible for following these terms, confirms being at least 14 years old, and accepts the normal risks connected with cycling. Guests under 18 rent under parental responsibility.
1.4 Ownership and availability
Fokalbiz owns the bikes and related equipment. Bikes are rented at Toftegården per full day from 09.00 to 23.00.
1.6 Area of use
The bike may only be used and stored in Skagen and the surrounding area, within 50 km of Toftegården. If a bike is taken on a ferry or outside this area, Fokalbiz may consider it stolen and charge DKK 8,000.
1.7 Laws and safe use
The guest must follow Danish traffic law and local rules and is responsible for any violations while using the bike.
1.8 Restrictions and safety
The bike may not be used unsafely, for transporting extra persons, children or animals, while using a phone, under influence, for racing or stunts, or where cycling is unsafe or prohibited. The bike must be locked when not in use. Helmet use is strongly recommended.
1.9 Unauthorized use
The guest may not manipulate, hack, modify or repair Toftegården or Fokalbiz property, equipment, codes, information, website or bikes.
1.10 Incidents
Accidents, damage, personal injury and stolen or lost bikes must be reported to Fokalbiz as soon as possible. If a third party is involved, local police must be contacted.
1.11 Lost or stolen bike
If a bike or key is lost or stolen, the guest must notify us immediately. The guest is responsible for the replacement value of DKK 8,000.
1.12 Damage
The bike must be returned in the same condition as received, except for normal wear. The guest is responsible for damage, loss, claims, costs or fees caused by misuse, loss or theft.
2. Payment and fees
The price is DKK 100 per day including VAT. The rental period is 09.00 to 23.00. Late return may be treated as loss or theft and may lead to a replacement charge of DKK 8,000. Payment is made in cash, by MobilePay or by payment card.
3. Risk and liability
Cycling is at the guest’s own risk. Bikes can fail even when maintained. The guest accepts the visible and hidden risks of injury, death or property damage and is responsible for safe use. Fokalbiz is not liable for damages or costs caused by the guest’s use, to the extent permitted by law.
3.5 Insurance
Insurance is not mandatory. The guest is responsible for private insurance covering damage, third-party liability and theft. The bike is normally covered by home contents insurance. Contact us immediately if the bike is defective when received. In case of puncture, we help where possible if the guest can reach a public road in our area.
4. Privacy
By using the service, the guest accepts that Fokalbiz processes personal data according to its privacy policy.
5. Period and cancellation
The agreement applies from the first booking/payment and while the guest uses the service. It ends 10 years after last use. Bike bookings and payments cannot be cancelled or refunded. Fokalbiz may withdraw the right to use the service at any time.
6. Disputes
Disputes about the agreement must be sent in writing to the contact details below.

8. Governing law
Unless mandatory law says otherwise, Danish law applies and disputes are decided by Danish courts.
9. Final agreement and changes
This is the full agreement between the parties. Fokalbiz may add to or change the agreement without notice. Continued use after a change means acceptance of the change.
10. Interpretation
Headings do not affect interpretation. “Or” is not exclusive. “Including” means “including, but not limited to”. The guest confirms having read and understood the agreement and its legal meaning.
